The Gas Canister is a poisonous thrown weapon introduced in Worms 3D, and reappears in Worms 4: Mayhem and Worms: Ultimate Mayhem. It consists of an orange, rough, spherical orb with small canisters protruding from its surface. Like the grenade, it's a thrown weapon and the fuse timer can be set by the player, from 1 to 5 seconds (however, in the PC version of all 3 games, the fuse timer cannot be set by the player, as the Gas Canister automatically goes off in 5 seconds). Rather than exploding when its fuse is up, the Gas Canister bursts and releases a cloud of toxic green vapors, poisoning enemy (and friendly) worms in the radius. Note that although it appears to leave a trail of gas behind it, worms will not be affected by this, only the plume of gas that occurs after the fuse has ended will poison the worms.

  • Xbox: Use the White button to cycle through the fuse settings, use the left thumb-stick to turn to face the direction you want to throw, and use the right thumb-stick to adjust the angle of your shot. Press and hold A to charge, and release A to throw the Gas Canister.
  • PlayStation 2: Use the L2 button to cycle through the fuse settings, use the left analog stick to aim, press and hold the X button to charge, and release X to throw the Gas Canister.

Tips & Tricks

  • If the Wormpot setting is set to "Vampire", and if you use poisonous weapons such as the Gas Canister and Poison Arrow, your vampire worm will gain health overtime from all worms poisoned by him until they are cured.
